Bye bye Washington DC, hello Chicago!

Yesterday we left Washington and boarded a 19 hour train journey to Chicago... WITH NO WIFI.

Before getting the train we went on a quest to find a Walmart and buy snacks for the journey!! 



Then we had some lunch in Centre Cafe in Union Station. I had a cobb salad and Tom had chicken pot pie! Tom also had key lime pie for dessert, but I went for a Starbucks instead! 



We were very excited when it was time to board the train! We were allowed to board first as we were going all the way to Chicago! We were given amazing seats on the top floor of the train! We had great views of the Blue Ridge mountains of Virginia as the sun set! 


We began a game of monopoly but had to stop halfway through as we were hungry and I had a headache! We got a pizza from the cafe car for dinner! 


We then settled down to watch Shrek on my kindle, which was hilarious! I haven't watched it since I was very little and it had both of us laughing out loud! We then decided to try and get some sleep. The chairs recline fully, but are still pretty uncomfortable!! 

The following morning we woke feeling pretty tired and rough!! We got into Chicago at 10 am and got a taxi to the hotel, but we weren't allowed to check in yet so went out for an explore! We walked to the Navy Pier and grabbed some lunch! We then returned to our hotel, changed into clean clothes and showered! Feeling much more human we went back out into Chicago. We popped into Forever 21 and Sephora, which I am becoming addicted to! We then walked to the Millenium Park to see the Cloud Gate sculpture (nicknamed The Bean!). 



We walked along the lakefront for a bit, which was lovely and then went for dinner at Pizzeria Uno, who claim to have invented the deep dish pizza! I went for  classic pepperoni and Tom had a número uno! They were amazing and we finished a whole one each (although they were the smallest size!). 





Tomorrow we are looking forward to a relaxing day at the beach!

DC duck tour!!

Today we got up fairly early and went for the hotel breakfast. I had fruit loops, which were super weird and Tom had dodgy doughnuts!!  We went into the city and our first stop was Obama's place! Obviously Barack didn't get the memo that we were in town so sadly missed out on meeting us.  After seeing the White House we walked to Union station, with a bit of retail therapy and lunch on the way! I got a pretty top from Forever 21! We had lunch in Pret, I had a California club sandwich and Tom had a New York Meatball wrap!!  We got to the station and boarded our vessel for the DC duck tour! The captain was called Captain Bucky and he was hilarious, he told us a funny joke to do with porridge when we told him we were from Norwich!! The tour was awesome, a really great way to see all of DC's monuments and memorials and learn things about them in the process! There is definitely an added excitement when you get on to the water, although it was a bit scary when Captain Bucky let

Worst Lecture Ever!

Friday began at 11, with a Meteorology lecture that I was (as always) late to. However I only missed a bit of recap so it was all good. During the lecture we learnt about the First Law of Thermodynamics, and there was a lot of maths involved. I still managed to follow it all though which was nice. After the lecture I rushed back home quick as my lil legs could carry me! I had a couple hours break and wanted to make the house look nice for when Tom arrived that evening. I literally spent the whole of my break tidying the kitchen and it didn't look like I'd even touched it, it was so messy. At 2 I headed back into uni for two super fun hours of maths! The first was a Vector Calculus lecture with the lecturer that I really like. The maths is quite hard but he explains it all really really well and takes it nice and slow, he gets a big ol' thumbs up from me.
