A lovely week of weather

Image
Hey everyone! I don't know about you but I've loved the cold weather we've had this week! On Monday, my coursemates and I headed to Horsey beach in north Norfolk to see the seals. It was FREEZING on the beach, particularly when I took my gloves off to take photos!! Well worth it though as the seals were gorgeous and we saw a rainbow. It's hard to say whether we were more excited about the wildlife or the weather! And then, overnight Tuesday into Wednesday, it snowed! I was very excited. I'm not sure anything could get me to jump out of bed faster than when my Mum shouts that there's snow outside! We had a good covering where I live in Suffolk, here are some photos: I drove into Norwich where I met Elin and Katie on campus for a walk around the UEA lake. The snow wasn't as thick here and was melting much faster, but we still enjoyed a wintry walk! Now last night was the coldest night of the winter so far. My personal (very am

Snow?!

Hey everyone! Good news for anyone who is a fan of the colder conditions (like me!), this brief mild spell is at its end, as a northwesterly flow begins to dominate our weather once again. Now, I know it's not everyones favourite, but I love cold weather and the chance of seeing some snow makes me very excited. Though there's still some degree of uncertainty, there's a chance we could see a spell of snow in East Anglia overnight Tuesday into Wednesday morning! For more details on the weather for the week ahead check out my latest podcast! I've been trying lots of different ways to record it, from writing a script to just remembering it from the top of my head! This week I did a mixture of the two, let me know what you think! A milder weekend...

Image
Hey everyone! It's been a glorious week of weather so far! It was wonderfully foggy in Norwich on Monday, I took this photo on campus around midday: Last semester I wrote a computer model to simulate the formation of radiation fog. This kind of fog is formed by radiational cooling of the Earths surface, causing the air above to cool and condense, producing fog! Since then, I love a foggy day and love to think about the processes involved in its formation. Tuesday was pretty cool too, I took this picture of a front clearing East Anglia in the morning at the park and ride on my way to work! Wednesday was a glorious day with plenty of warm sunshine. I took this picture in almost exactly the same spot that I took Mondays fog photo! This morning we had the most gorgeous sunrise in Norwich. After taking this photo, I drove home to Suffolk, where it clouded over and we had a few snow showers!!  Looks like we're heading into a milder spell of weather

Blog Resurrection

Hey everyone! It's been a long time since I posted or even looked at this blog, thus I spent some 'happy' hours over the weekend reminiscing and cringing over my past self. Slightly embarrassing that I wasn't sure I could even remember how to use Blogger! However, I've decided to resurrect this blog to create a platform on which I can share blog posts and podcasts about the weather. My last (very cringey) blog post from 2017 talks about my first go at presenting the weather, getting an internship at the Met Office and writing forecasts for local newspapers. Since then, my time at the Met Office has been and gone, I've taken a year in industry, working as a wind farm development engineer and am now in my final year of uni, working part-time with a local forecasting company, Weatherquest, which I love. I have also had a couple more attempts at presenting the weather, though I can't say I've gotten much better!! Therefore, the purpose of this blog w
