Bye bye Philadelphia, hello Washington DC!

Today we left Philadelphia and travelled to Washington DC! It was a pretty quick train journey, compared with some of the others we'll be doing!

We got into Washington at about 11:30 am and got a taxi to our hotel/motel! We went straight out into Washington via the Metro and grabbed a Starbucks so we could plan what to do with the rest of our day.

We decided to walk to the U.S. Botanical Gardens, which were lovely and also air conditioned - a definite plus in the 35 degree weather today! There were all sorts of plants both inside the conservatory and throughout the gardens. There were loads of cacti which I loved #cactusfan.

We then walked to grab some dinner, stopping by at the U.S. Capitol building, where congress is held. It's a pretty amazing building, however the top half was covered in scaffolding, so we couldn't fully appreciate it.

We got dinner at Chipotle, a recommendation of Max's friend Noah who lived in the states! It was so good! I had a chicken burrito and Tom had pulled beef tacos.

We got the Metro back to the hotel after a bit more wandering around and trying to buy stamps from a confusing machine.
We passed a 7 Eleven and stopped to grab some drinks, they have every flavour of fanta imaginable here, so I had strawberry and Tom had mango! We hope we can fit some in our luggage on the way back!
